For Parents: T.V. or no T.V. allowed in your house?

Do you allow t.v in your home, or limit time your kids watch? This subject came up in a class my husband is taking and his instructor is set againt any t.v. in the house. I feel that especailly for people like us who live in a rural area, that t.v. opens up windows to the world and education. Shows like sesame street and between the lions are excellent learning tools. Baby einstein was brought up and said to be nothing but a built in babysitter, my daughter watched these videos and loved them, I think they are great brain stimulation. What do you think?

TV can be overdone but is a quality learning tool when it is done with parental guidelines. Most schools use TV and videos to expand the learning experience with visual stimulation. Anyone who is set against any modern learning experience is pretty single minded and has not kept up with modern and fun ways to learn.
I have taught preschool, kindergarten, primary school and am an English professor at a University which has a summer program for children.
