Why is my 9 month old throwing up?
Here is some background info:
-Started making my own baby food at 6 months
-He ate sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips homemade for 1 week and then starting refusing to eat it.
-Made homemade fruits (peaches, apples, mangos, bananas) and he LOVED them but refused to eat the veggies still.
-Doctor recommended trying the jarred veggies. He loves the jarred veggies! --still eating homemade fruit.
NOW: He is now refusing to eat any type of fruit but he will eat jarred veggies and baby yogurt
We have been periodically trying to feed him real foods (mashed up potato, cauliflower, sweetpotato, ect.) It is just unseasoned, mashed, and watered down a little. He starts gagging and throws up repeatedly (his last bottle as well)
Why is he doing this? He is almost 9 months. shouldn't he be going off baby food soon?
Maybe not. All kids are different. If he's only throwing up the chunkier food, it could be he doesn't like the texture or isn't ready for it yet. I wouldn't panic that he has some developmental issue at this age, he's still young, my son and a lot of other kids I know preferred puree at this point.
On the other hand, if he's been throwing up the bottles, too, I wonder if he doesn't have a little stomach bug and the chunkier food just goes down the roughest. Maybe lay off of it for a week and try again, and see if there's any more vomiting. Of course, I know you will take him in if you are worried.
